The Kauffman-sponsored “We Create KC” report is organized around the following six imperatives that were identified as key areas of development in the region’s efforts to nurture entrepreneurship and economic growth: Maximize entrepreneurial-support resources Tell the story Create a strong entrepreneurial pipeline of ideas Build entrepreneurial talent Dramatically increase available startup and growth capital Engage the broader corporate community In addition, the report details several of the community’s recent entrepreneurial achievements, highlights data on high-growth firms, and spotlights eight local businesses across four “quadrants of entrepreneurship” — startup, microenterprise, Main Street, and innovation-led. Founded in 2003, KCSourceLink connects a network of more than 200 nonprofit resource organizations that provide business-building services for small businesses in the Kansas City region.
